Three in a row for U of L baseball

The University of Louisville baseball team won for a third straight game on Wednesday, beating Morehead State 7-3 at Jim Patterson Stadium. The Cardinals scored seven unanswered runs after falling behind 3-0 to the Eagles.

Seven different players scored runs as the University of Louisville baseball team rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat Morehead State University 7-3 on Wednesday night.

The win at Jim Patterson Stadium was the third in a row for the Cardinals (30-11), who will host Connecticut this weekend for a three-game series.

First baseman Danny Rosenbaum had a two-run single in the fifth inning with two outs and then Alex Chittenden added a two-run double.

The Cardinals added a run in the seventh inning on an RBI single by Chittenden and then had a two-run home run by freshman Corey Ray in the eighth inning.

U of L outhit the Eagles 13-7 and used eight pitchers in the contest. Ryan Lauria pitched an inning of scoreless ball and got the win to move to 1-0 on the season.

Joe Filomeno, who has struggled some this season, pitched 1 2/3 innings of relief later in the game and didn't allow a hit for a huge outing. Cole Sturgeon got the late out and was credited with his first save.
