U of L football: Recruiting notebook

A few notes from Thursday on the University of Louisville football recruiting front, including a look at a prospect who could be making a decision soon and some new offers from the Cardinals.

JONES READY FOR A DECISION?

Powder Springs, Ga., McEachern offensive lineman Chandler Jones tweeted on Wednesday that he was going to make a college decision on Friday night, picking between Louisville and Syracuse.

But the 6-foot-4, 300-pound Jones picked up another offer on Thursday - Mississippi State - and is now not sure on a decision.

Jones said late Thursday night that he might still make a decision on Friday but was going to talk it over with his family.

With offers from U of L, Syracuse, North Carolina State, Syracuse, Middle Tennessee, Marshall, Cincinnati, Massachusetts and Georgia State, Jones made a visit to U of L earlier this month for Junior Day.

After the visit, Jones told Cardinal Authority that U of L was his "clear leader."

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution said on Thursday that he would "probably hold off" on committing to a school on Friday.

Jones has not made a visit to Syracuse but U of L coaches have been to see him since his visit to the Cardinals for Junior Day. He was a teammate of incoming Louisville freshman linebacker Henry Famurewa at McEachern.

FOUR OFFERS FOR Alabama LB

Montgomery, Ala., Carver, linebacker Lyndell "Mack" Wilson had quite a day.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pound defensive end picked up four offers on one day, including U of L, Alabama, Miami, Fla., and Mississippi.

The early Scout.com four-star now has a total of 10 scholarship offers.

As a sophomore, Wilson notched 71 tackles, seven sacks, two interceptions, five forced fumbles and accounted for one touchdown in helping Carver advance to the quarterfinals of the Class 6A state playoffs.

Prattville, Ala., running back Kingston Davis landed an offer from the Cardinals.

The 6-foot-1, 230-pound Davis ran for 557 yards and six touchdowns as a sophomore.

Davis is a member of the Class of 2016.

Florida DB GETS OFFER FROM CARDS

Coconut Creek, Fla., Monarch defensive back Ronnie Hoggins nabbed a U of L offer.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound three-star prospect now has eight offers, including Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Marshall, Temple, Florida International, Florida Atlantic and Bowling Green.

Hoggins is teammates with two four-star teammates, Calvin Ridley and Shawn Burgess-Becker, who both hold U of L offers.

The Cardinals also offers Cavin Ridley, a standout 2016 prospect also from Monarch. He's the younger brother of Calvin Ridley and also has offers from Miami and Temple.

ALABAMA OL ADDS CARDS TO LIST OF OFFERS

The 6-foot-2, 275-pound Kennedy also has offers from Tennessee, Clemson, Cincinnati, East Carolina, Mississippi State and Georgia State.

Kennedy is projected as a guard in college.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Kinard was a member of the Class of 2010 from of Youngstown, Ohio, and at one time was committed to Miami. He spent time at a prep school and also at Michigan.

Kinard also has an offer from California. He led Arizona Western in tackles as a redshirt freshman last fall with 106 stops while also posting 1.5 sacks, 16.5 tackles-for-loss, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception.

He will graduate in December with two years left to play two years of eligibility.
