Bacon a prime target for U of L hoops

The University of Louisville continues to stay in contact with 2015 Florida four-star small forward Dwayne Bacon. Bacon has grown to around 6-foot-6 and his interest level has also grown. Cardinal Authority checks in with him about U of L.

One of the prime early targets for the University of Louisville in the Class of 2015, Florida four-star small forward Dwayne Bacon remains on the Cardinals' radar.

The 6-foot-6, 205-pound Bacon, who has grown a couple of inches since last summer, said he has continued to hear from U of L assistant coach Mike Balado in recent months.

"Yes, I've talked with him a few times," Bacon said. "I've been hearing from a lot of schools."

Bacon has offers from U of L, Baylor, Central Florida, Clemson, DePaul, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Marquette, Memphis, South Florida, Virginia Tech and Xavier. He said he's also been hearing from USC and Georgetown, two teams that visited him this week to watch him workout.

In the spring and summer, Bacon will be playing again with the Showtime Ballers. They'll play in an event at Biloxi, Miss., this weekend and he said he thought Balado "might" come and check out a game at some point.

"I like Louisville's style of play a lot," he said. "And I like the coaches. But right now, nobody is ahead of anybody else on my list.

"I'm not even thinking about committing anywhere. I just want to wait it out."

Bacon transferred from Lakeland, Fla., McKeel Academy to Bradenton, Fla., IMG Academy following his sophomore year. He played half of the season at IMG before going back to McKeel.

Now, Bacon said he's working hard on his game. He averaged 25 points in a recent event with the Showtime Ballers and said he "still has work" to accomplish this spring and summer with his game.

"I really need to become a better defensive player," he said. "A lot of things."

Cardinal Authority will keep you posted on the recruitment of Bacon.
