Louisville selected to host NCAA Regional

The University of Louisville has been selected as NCAA Regional host for the fifth time in eight years.

After falling short against No.17 Houston in the AAC Championship earlier in the day, the No. 5 Louisville Cardinals received a significant pick-me-up on Sunday evening. Shortly before 9:00p.m., the NCAA announced the U of L (45-15) is among the Regional hosts for the opening round of the 2014 Championship.

The Louisville Regional will be held May 30-June 2 at Jim Patterson Stadium. See below for ticket information

The Cardinals, who claimed the American Conference regular season title last weekend, will serve as a host for the fifth time in eight years.

Last season the Cardinals hosted a Regional and used victories over traditional powers Miami and Oklahoma State to springboard them into a Super Regional where they swept top-seed Vanderbilt and earned a birth in the College World Series.

In addition to 2013, Louisville also served as regional hosts in 2009 and 2010 and a Super Regional in 2007. The Cardinals have an overall 10-4 record when serving as a host in NCAA tournament play. In addition to the victories over the Hurricanes and Cowboys, Louisville has also defeated Indiana, Missouri, Vanderbilt among others in post season play at Patterson Stadium.

The NCAA will announce the regional pairings during Monday's Selection Show at noon. The program will broadcast live on ESPNU.

Cardinal Authority will be on location at Jim Patterson Stadium and will have complete coverage as the team learns of their upcoming opponents.
