University of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz signed one of the top recruiting classes in 2014 and in the next week or so will welcome three of the five newcomers.
Harveysburg, Ohio, standout wing Sydney Brackemyre was expected to arrive on campus on Sunday and will enroll in classes on Monday.
Manassas, Va., Paul VI wing Ariana Freeman will also arrive this week and enroll, while Salesian, Calif., guard Mariya Moore is expected on campus by June 12.
"I'm so excited to get there and get going," Brackemyre said on Saturday. "I can't wait to get rolling with the workouts."
The three newcomers can immediately begin practicing with the team when they enroll in classes. U of L's other players are also expected back to campus this week and the Cardinals will begin individual workouts.
The team can practice - under new NCAA rules last year - some during June.
Walz said recently in an interview that it was "a huge benefit" to get the players on campus early and get them acclimated.
"It's good for them and it's good for the other girls as well," Walz said. "It gives everybody a little time to get adjusted."
The two other signees - Myisha Hines-Allen and Arica Carter - are expected to enroll later this summer at U of L.
