Considered one of the top rising quarterbacks in the 2016 class, Broken Arrow, Okla., signal-caller Scotty Gilkey participated in Bobby Petrino's quarterback camp and left with a scholarship offer from the Cardinals.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound junior turned in an impressive performance in front of the Louisville coaches. Throwing to Owasso, Okla., wide receiver and Demond Sampson, Gilkey finished the day as one of the top performers.
"They said that I had a great camp and that I looked great out there," Gilkey told Cardinal Authority. "They told that they know that I have a great future ahead of me and then told me that they had a scholarship for me.
Louisville joins Louisiana-Monroe in extending an offer, while strong camp performances at Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas has also drawn serious interest."I was very excited actually," he said of the U of L offer. "That is a real big offer, so it's real exciting to know that they are recruiting me like that."
Cardinals offensive coordinator Garrick McGee spent a considerable amount of time visiting with Gilkey during his time at the camp and left a positive impression.
"I think they are going to be pretty good next year," Gilkey said. "I spent a lot of time with Coach McGee and I really liked him. I didn't get to spend much time with Coach P, but I know that he's a great coach and always has a great offense. I know that Coach P and Coach McGee have done great things with quarterbacks."
