U of L women in on top '16 guard from Indiana

The University of Louisville women's basketball team is in the mix for one of the top girls' basketball players from the state of Indiana. Princeton, Ind., junior Jackie Young made a trip to U of L and checks in with Cardinal Authority.

Princeton, Ind., High School junior guard Jackie Young is considered not only the best player in the state of Indiana, but one of the elite players nationally in the Class of 2016.

The 5-foot-11 Young has a ton of schools after her, making a recent visit to U of L. Young was at Elite Camp but didn't participate because of an injury to her wrist.

"I wish I could have, but it's been hurting me and I am getting an X-Ray," she said.

Young still had time to check out the Cardinals, speak with the coaches and look around the campus. She had previously been to U of L for a game as a sophomore and this past season to watch U of L against Connecticut.

"I like it a lot," Young said. "Coach (Jeff) Walz is great. "I like how he treats his players, I like how they play."

Young listed U of L, Purdue, Indiana, Notre Dame, Kentucky, Vanderbilt and Illinois as the teams coming after her the hardest.

"My mom prefers for me to stay close, but I'm just looking for the best school," she said.

Young is ranked as the No. 8 player nationally by ProspectsNation.com, while ESPN has her checking in as the No. 21 player in the class.
