Louisville offers Brewster guard Mitchell

University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino obviously liked what he saw from Donovan Mitchell on Wednesday the Reebok Breakout Classic. Mitchell told Cardinal Authority he landed an offer from the Cardinals.

Brewster Academy guard Donovan Mitchell played a couple of solid games this week in front of college coaches, including Rick Pitino.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Mitchell - a Class of 2015 prospect - was so good that he landed an offer from the U of L Cardinals.

Mitchell confirmed the offer to Cardinal Authority, noting he would like to make a visit to campus sometime in August.

Ranked as a four-star prospect, Mitchell also said he had landed an offer from Memphis and South Florida. He's a native of New York City and also has offers from Indiana, Providence, Florida, Cincinnati, Connecticut and Maryland.

Scout.com national analyst Evan Daniels was in Philadelphia and had this analysis on Mitchell from that event:

"One of the players that was receiving a considerable amount of buzz on the second day of the Reebok Breakout Classic was 6-foot-3 scoring guard. Mitchell, who has a powerfully built frame, is a very good athlete that can make plays in transition. He also has potential as a defender and he puts effort into that end of the floor. One of the biggest differences I saw in his game was his shot making," Daniels said.

Cardinal Authority will keep you posted on the recruitment of Mitchell.
