The University of Louisville is targeting some top prospects at the adidad Unrivaled event at the Multisport Complex in the Windy City.
And many of those guys are showing out during the top adidas event of the summer.
Here's a report on a few:
Deng Adel: The 6-foot-7 slasher gets better and better every time I see him. He's the top 2015 target on the board for the Cardinals and never slows down with his motor. Adel showed a nice outside touch on day one and had some sensational moves to the hoop.
Ray Smith: Smith is a top '15 target and was playing so well before going down with a knee injury. He's getting it check out today and will remain a target of the Cardinals.
Carlton Bragg Bragg is terrific and played well in spurts on Thursday. He has U of L listed among his top school but have to think the Cardinals will need to make up ground, which I'm not sure they will stay in the mix. He's good but they are in good on some other guys.
Brandon Ingram: Ingram was so good in the first game and slowed a little in the second game - against Adel. Love his motor and his ability to get to the basket. Still a little awkward because of all the growing he has done, so his best ball ahead of him. Will visit U of L in August and the Cards do have a shot.
Payton Pritchard: One of the top '16 point guard in the country and a treat to watch. He's a mix of Bobby Hurley and Aaron Craft, which is not a bad combination.
DERON DAVIS: Not sure how much work the Cards have done with the '16 big man, but they will after this week. He's a guy you can't help but love. Doesn't have the best body - a little stocky - but he gets it done.
T.J. Leaf: Might be my favorite player they are recruiting in the '16 class. He is sensational in all aspects of the game. He can shoot it, is more athletic than he looks, takes it to the rim and has a tough side to him. His recruiting will take off even more this week and he already had a bunch of high majors.
More later from Chicago were U of L coach Rick Pitino is expected on Friday.
