Russ Smith shines in NBA debut for Pelicans

Former University of Louisville guard Russ Smith had a stellar ending to his first career NBA game on Friday night. He led the New Orleans Pelicans to a come-from-behind win over the NBA D-League All-Star team on Las Vegas.

Russ Smith didn't get his professional career off to the best start - going 1 of 8 in the first half from the field.

But his first game ended in Russ-like fashion, with Smith scoring 10 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter and leading a 19-point comeback by the New Orleans Pelicans.

Smith had 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals - and dished out the game-winning assist in an 83-81 win over the NBA D-League All-Stars in Las Vegas.

Smith was 8 of 17 from the field after starting the game 1 of 8.

The Pelicans will play on Sunday in Las Vegas against the Los Angles Lakers.
