University of Louisville fans witnessed it for four years. Shoni Schimmel knows how to score, involve her teammates, make highlight plays, while leading her team to victory.
Now a rookie with the Atlanta Dream, Schimmel has taken her 'showtime' abilities to the WNBA, where she earned All-Star starting honors after just a half season in the league.
Playing in the WNBA All-Star game on Saturday afternoon, the former Cardinal All-American poured in 29 points and handed out 8 assists in leading the East team to a thrilling 125-124 victory in Phoenix, Az.
Her efforts, which set a new All-Star scoring record, earned her MVP honors.
With her former Cardinal head coach Jeff Walz in attendance, Schimmel connected on 11-of-24 shot attempts and drained a game-high seven 3-pointers. She also had 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
