Shoni 'Showtime' Schimmel earns MVP

Former University of Louisville All-American guard Shoni Schimmel lead the East squad to a 125-124 WNBA All-Star victory on Saturday and earned MVP honors in the process.

University of Louisville fans witnessed it for four years. Shoni Schimmel knows how to score, involve her teammates, make highlight plays, while leading her team to victory.

Now a rookie with the Atlanta Dream, Schimmel has taken her 'showtime' abilities to the WNBA, where she earned All-Star starting honors after just a half season in the league.

Playing in the WNBA All-Star game on Saturday afternoon, the former Cardinal All-American poured in 29 points and handed out 8 assists in leading the East team to a thrilling 125-124 victory in Phoenix, Az.

Her efforts, which set a new All-Star scoring record, earned her MVP honors.

With her former Cardinal head coach Jeff Walz in attendance, Schimmel connected on 11-of-24 shot attempts and drained a game-high seven 3-pointers. She also had 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
