Blakeney ready to cut his list?

Orlando, Fla., Oak Ridge shooting guard Antonio Blakeney talks to Cardinal Authority about his week at AAU Super Showcase in Louisville and his plan to cut his list in the coming weeks.

Antonio Blakeney was the star attraction at the AAU Super Showcase/Nationals this week at the Kentucky Exposition Center.

The 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Orlando, Fla., Oak Ridge High School signed a ton of autographs and took a bunch of photos with the throng of University of Louisville fans watching him with his E1T1 team.

Blakeney and E1T1 did lose in the opening round of the Showcase tournament to Howard Pulley on Friday but he said the week was "a whole lot of fun. It's so much fun to do."

Ending the summer with a solid performance of 22 points, six rebounds and five assists. In five games at AAUs, Blakeney had 105 points, 29 rebounds and 23 assists and a 4-1 record.

"This summer as a team we came up short a few times but we were always right there," he said. "I played well this summer but I know I can play better. It's just been fun to travel around the country with these guys and compete."

Now that his summer ball is complete, Blakeney said he would start thinking about the recruiting process a little more.

"I'm going to cut my list," he said. "I will probably do it in early August, cut it and then start thinking about making visits."

Blakeney didn't want to say which schools would get visits, but Louisville, LSU, Florida, Kentucky, North Carolina, Missouri and others are all still in hot pursuit of the star.

U of L coach Rick Pitino was the only head coach to watch all five of his games in Louisville this week. The only other head coach in attendance was Billy Donovan for two of his games, while the other schools had assistants in the crowd for much of the week.

"I don't know what I will cut it too," he said. "We'll have to see.

"This has been fun this week. The competition wasn't great for a couple of games but it was fun and the fans were great. The fans are crazy."
