Spanish guard Angela Salvadores, who is considered one of the top players in her age group, is expected to make a visit to the University of Louisville later this month.
The flashy 5-foot-9 Salvadores will make visits to four schools before then picking her college destination for next fall.
But before making the trip to the U.S. to check out colleges, Salvadores signed to play with Spanish League champion Rivas Ecopolis of EuroLeague Women, which is the highest professional basketball league in Europe for women’s clubs.
Unlike the men's EuroLeague, the women's version is run by FIBA Europe and her playing in the league won't affect her college status.
The 17-year-old Salvadores will be playing in the Spanish top league for the first time. She had previously played for Segle XXI last season in the second league. In that league, Salavdores averaged 15.4 points and 4.8 rebounds a game.
Salvadores was named MVP of the U-17 World Championship earlier this summer. She led Spain to the title game where they lost to the U.S. but she averaged 19.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists a game in the event.
While she's been talking to the U of L staff for a bit now, Salvadores will make her first visit later this month. She's expected to be on campus on Aug 31 and for the Sept. 1 football game against Miami, Fla.
Salvadores will also visit Duke, Kentucky and Purdue before making a decision.
