U of L commit Samuel with a big start

Phenix City, Ala., Central High School running back Traveon Samuel, a Louisville commitment, started the season with a huge effort on Friday night in a 30-21 win over Stockbridge.

Just a few weeks after making a commitment to the University of Louisville, Phenix City, Ala., Central High School running back Traveon Samuel started the season with a bang.

The 5-foot-8, 180-pound Samuel finished with 173 all-purpose yards in a 30-21 win over Stcokbridge on Friday night.

Samuel ran for 98 yards and had 73 yards receiving and one touchdown in the win.

Samuel picked the Cardinals over Auburn, South Carolina and Florida State and others. He committed while he was still on campus for an unofficial visit earlier this month.

As a junior, Samuel had 781 rushing yards, 452 receiving yards and 24 total touchdowns.
