University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino has same several times since taking the job in January that he wants to recruit the state of Kentucky as hard as any other area.
Petrino and his staff will try to impress some of the top prospects from the Bluegrass State next week in the opener against Miami.
U of L is expected to host about 20 unofficial visitors, including a few from Kentucky.
Among the top in-state targets expected to attend will be Woodford County junior Drake Jackson, considered the No. 1 center nationally in the Class of 2016 by Scout.com. He's ranked as the No. 85 player in the class nationally.
Also expected among the group is Woodford County '16 lineman Saige Young, who is a teammate and friends with Jackson.
Several other top players from out in the state are expected to attend, including Christian County saftey Devon Wharton and Warren Central wide receiver Jensen Feggins.
Trinity running back Donald Brooks, Collins kicker Blanton Creque, Doss linebacker Ramone Kelly, Manual running back Michael Nero, Male quarterback Davis Mattingly and Seneca cornerback Aldwin Jackson are among the others expected to attend the game from the local schools. Jackson is committed to Western Kentucky.
