Cards offer former Maryland commit

Fort Lauderdale, Fla., St. Thomas Aquinas running back Deltron Sands, who had been committed to Maryland until this afternoon, has been offered a scholarship by the University of Louisville. Cardinal Authority has the latest.

Fort Lauderdale, Fla., St. Thomas Aquinas three-star running back Deltron Sands committed to Maryland back in May.

The 5-foot-8, 175-pound Sands has been getting interest from other schools since the commitment and on Wednesday picked up an offer from the University of Louisville.

And then later in the day, Sands tweeted and confirmed he had de-committed from Maryland.

Sands said U of L wide receivers coach Lamar Thomas extended him the offer. He's expected to make an official visit to U of L this fall.

Sands committed to Maryland over offers from Syracuse, West Virginia, Western Michigan, Virginia and others.

As a junior, Sands ran 48 times for 658 yards as one of two feature backs at St. Thomas Aquinas.
