U of L baseball lands '17 commitment

University of Louisville baseball coach Dan McDonnell and his staff have added another top commitment in the Class of 2017. The Cardinals now have two commits in the '17 class after Cedar Rapids, Iowa, outfielder Trey Leonard committed on Wednesday.

The University of Louisville baseball team has picked up a commitment from one of the top young prospects in the Midwest.

Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Washington High School sophomore center fielder Trey Leonard picked up an offer from Louisville this week and on Wednesday committed to the Cardinals.

Leonard also had an offer from Iowa. The 6-foot-1, 165-pound Leonard hit .404 in 28 games as a freshman last season with five triples and 34 stolen bases.

Leonard is the second commitment in the '17 class for the Cardinals, joining Ballard pitcher Jordan Adell, who committed in June.

The Cardinals have nine commitments in the '16 class and a bunch in '15.
