Louisville back in the mix for P.J. Dozier

The University of Louisville men's basketball program is back in the mix with Class of 2015 guard P.J. Dozier from South Carolina. U of L coach Rick Pitino and assistant Kenny Johnson are expected to make an in-home visit with Dozier next week.

Three days after Antonio Blakeney backed out of his commitment to the University of Louisville, the Cardinals are back in play for another top guard in the Class of 2015.

U of L assistant coach Kenny Johnson has been in contact with and watched Columbia, S.C., Spring Valley guard P.J. Dozier in an open gym.

Dozier, who had been considering the Cardinals prior to Blakeney's commitment two weeks ago tonight, has been very receptive to the Cardinals' re-entering the picture.

U of L head coach Rick Pitino and Johnson are expected to make an in-home visit with the Dozier family next Wednesday. Pitino has also talked to Dozier in the past 24 hours.

The 6-foot-6, 190-pound Dozier already has four official visits set up: Michigan (Sept. 26), North Carolina (Oct. 3), Georgetown (Oct. 17) and South Carolina (Oct. 24). He hasn't set up a fifth, which could come to U of L.

Before the Blakeney commitment, Dozier was going to visit U of L on Oct. 3.

Dozier is ranked as the No. 33 player in the Class of 2015 by Scout.com and is listed as the No. 4 point guard in the class.

The Cardinals already have commitments from Donovan Mitchell, Ray Spalding and Deng Adel in the '15 class.
