Louisville's Gardner out; Bonnafon to start

University of Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino announced on Thursday that Will Gardner will not play against Wake Forest

University of Louisville quarterback Will Gardner will not play on Saturday against Wake Forest.

Cardinals head coach Bobby Petrino made the announcement on Thursday following the team practice.

True freshman Reggie Bonnafon will get the start against the Demon Deacons. Bonnafon has seen limited action this season, appearing in games against Murray State and Virginia. The Louisville Trinity product has completed 14 of 20 attempts for 151 yards and a touchdown. He's also rushed for a pair of scores.

Gardner was injured on a late hit to his left knee by an FIU defender in the 3rd quarter. He was 16 of 28 for 295 yards and a pair of touchdowns before leaving the contest.

Petrino also stated that running back L.J. Scott, who suffered an ankle injury against FIU, is cleared to play and will be available on Saturday.
