University of Louisville sophomore running back Brandon Radcliff has been the key offensive figure in the Cardinals two most recent outings – a home win over Wake Forest and an important road victory at Syracuse.
Last season as a redshirt freshman, Radcliff saw limited time on the field. Participating primarily on special teams in 2013, the former three-star back from Miami (Fla.) Columbus had just 17 caries for 91 yards.
After seeing others have an opportunity to excel during the team's first four games of the season, Radcliff's chance came two weeks ago when after yet another solid week of practice was awarded with his first career start against Wake Forest.
He responded with 129 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries, while also adding another 30 yards on a pair of receptions.
He received the start again at Syracuse on Friday night and again fueled the Cardinals offense, rushing for 110 yards and two scores on 23 carries. He also had a 29-yard reception.
Now the team's leading rusher with 362 yards, along with a team-high 6 rushing touchdowns, Radcliff says the key was patience.
“Just being patient and just waiting my turn, so that when my time comes I give my full effort out there,” he said.
