University of Louisville head coach Bobby Petrino held his weekly press conference on Monday afternoon at the Howard Schnellenberger Complex where he reviewed the loss at Clemson and previewed the upcoming contest against N.C. State.
On the Clemson loss: "It's a real disappointing loss. We played really well on defense - we played fast, we tackled, we made a lot of plays. Offensively, we're really struggling. We're struggling to block the front, we're struggling to get open and our timing in the passing game. I do think that when Will came in, in the third quarter he gave us a lift. The timing was a little bit better and we were able to throw the ball down the field. We got ourselves in a position to win the game."
On the decision to spike the ball on 3rd & goal with 27 seconds to play: "That's a bad call. When you look back on it, it's the nature of the business when you make a call and it doesn't work and you lose the game, it's a bad call and that's all on me. I take full responsibility for it. It was a situation where I feel like we needed a huddle to get the right play called, but it didn't workout, so therefor it's a bad call."
On the status of DeVante Parker: "I wish I knew more. He did run today. He ran well without any pain, so its really on a day-to-day basis. It's really going to be how he reacts to the exercise and the movements that he does."
On handling the starting quarterback situation: "I haven't had the chance to talk to the two of them today, but we have a plan and I want to inform them before I tell the press."
