University of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz is trying to continue the recruiting roll he has been on in recent months.
Walz, who has the top-ranked recruiting class in 2015, is hosting one of the top 10 prospects from the Class of 2016 this weekend. Asia Durr, a U of L commitment and No. 1 prospect in '15, is also making an unofficial visit this weekend.
Durr will be joined by Dickson County, Tenn., guard Chassity "LeaLea" Carter, who s ranked No. 6 in the '16 class by ProspectsNation.com, is a 6-foot wing prospect. She is ranked as the No. 8 prospect by ESPN
Carter, who has played on several USA Basketball teams, has averaged more than 16 points a game in each of her first two seasons at Dickson County.
In a report earlier this year about Carter, Fullcourt.com called her a "gem."
"One of her greatest attributes is her ability to rebound and push in transition," the website says. "We marveled at the fact that she’s one of the best rebounding guards you will find . . . . Lea Lea also does an excellent job passing into the post from varying angles on the floor. A gem of a player!"
U of L already has five of the top 40 prospects in the Class of 2015 committed and expected to sign in November.
Walz and his staff are also in the mix for the top three prospects in '16: No. 1 Lauren Cox, No. 2 Joyner Holmes and No. 3 Tori McCoy. Cox and Holmes are both from Texas, while McCoy is from Illinois.
