Petrino 'encouraged' with Louisville injuries

University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino said on the ACC teleconference that he was "encouraged" with injuries to some of his key players. The Cardinals are off this week and will play Florida State next Thursday in Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

Speaking on the ACC weekly conference call, University of Louisville football coach Bobby Petrino gave some positive news on some key injuries.

"We're encouraged," said Petrino, noting the team has been off since Saturday but will be back to work this afternoon at practice.

Petrino said Lorenzo Mauldin (hamstring) and James Quick (foot) didn't seem to be too serious heading into the game against Florida State.

"We're encouraged with where they're at," Petrino said, noting that "all indications" are that Quick and Mauldin will play against Florida State.

Petrino also said DeVante Parker was sore the day after his return against North Carolina State but "we were really encouraged the next day he felt better than he thought he ever would."
