University of Louisville men's basketball coach Rick Pitino was not happy with his team's overall performance in Sunday's Red-White scrimmage at the KFC Yum Center.
The White team - which gave up 30 offensive rebounds - saw a 23-point lead dwindle in the final minutes. The Red cut it to just three and lost 89-86.
The Cardinals next play Barry on Saturday in an exhibition game at 12:30 p.m.
Here was Pitino's opening statement after the game and then video of Pitino and the players from the locker room:
Pitino: "I'm disappointed in the way the Red team ran their offense. They stood around and dribbled too much. The effort was very good and they had 30 offensive rebounds. I haven't seen 30 offensive rebounds, which does not bode well for the blocking out by the 4's and 5's on the White team. But the White team ran their offense better and that's why they won.
"The White team shot 55 percent to 35 percent for the Red. At the end, the White didn't execute their press offense. That's why the other team came back. The other night, I thought we played OK, and then I watched the tape and we did not. We played very, very poorly defensively, so we'll watch this right after this to determine how well we did defensively. Most of the time you can tell how well we did offensively, but you do need to break down the tape to see the defensive rotations."
