Louisville commit Caban 'loved what I saw'

Smiths, Ala., Station linebacker Amonte Caban made an unofficial visit to the University of Louisville last week for the Florida State game and recaps the visit with Cardinal Authority.

Smiths, Ala., Station High School linebacker Amonte Caban has been committed to the University of Louisville for more than two months.

And last week, Caban was back at U of L checking out the Cardinals. He made an unofficial visit to watch the Florida State game last Thursday.

"I liked it a whole lot," Caban said. "I didn't really know what to expect because I hadn't been to a game there, but it was great.

"I like the coaches and love the way the defense plays."

The 6-foot-2, 215-pound Caban is ranked as the No. 12 middle linebacker in the country by Scout.com. He said other schools are "still calling me a lot."

But Caban said he "really likes" Louisville a lot and is "firm" on his commitment.

"I see myself playing in that defense," he said. "I see myself like a Keith Kelsey in the middle of the defense for Louisville."

As a junior, Caban registered 140 tackles, including 11 for a loss and a three for sacks.

Caban said his season ended with a 5-5 mark this fall but he finished with a team-high 157 tackles and finished with more than 400 for his career.
