Louisville women now 4-0 after Ball State win

Freshman Mariya Moore scored 22 points and hit 6 of 9 three-pointers as the Louisville women's team downed Ball State 69-56 on Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center. The Cardinals are now 4-0 on the new season, marking the third year in a row U of L has started 4-0.

The University of Louisville women's basketball team got another huge lift on Sunday from true freshman Mariya Moore in a 69-56 win over Ball State.

Moore led the Cardinals in scoring for a third time in four games, hitting 6 of 9 three-pointers and netting 22 points. She added five rebounds, five assists and a steal in the victory at the KFC Yum! Center.

Another freshman - Myisha Hines-Allen - was the other player in double figures with 14.

The No. 12 Cardinals are now 4-0 on the season but this was was tougher than the others. U of L used an 11-2 run late in the game to push the lead open.

"Mariya, she's got the potential to shoot it like that," U of L coach Jeff Walz said. "She made big shots for us. She was without a doubt our best offensive player throughout the entire game, and we're very fortunate that she showed up to play tonight."

U of L is back on Tuesday night in the Yum Center against Western Kentucky.
