Louisville Soccer preps for Sweet 16

University of Louisville men's soccer has advanced to the Sweet 16 for the fourth time in five years and will host UMBC on Sunday for a chance to reach the NCAA quarterfinals. Head coach Ken Lolla and goalkeeper Joachim Ball discussed the upcoming match on Tuesday afternoon.

University of Louisville men's soccer overcame a 1-0 second half deficit to defeat No.19 Saint Louis 2-1 on Sunday night at Lynn Stadium to advance to the third round of the 2014 NCAA Tournament. This is the fourth trip into the Sweet 16 for the program in the last five years.

Up next for the 13th-seeded Cardinals is upset-mined University of Maryland-Baltimore County (UMBC) which shocked 4-seed Maryland 1-0 on Sunday evening. The Cardinals will host at Lynn Stadium on Sunday at 6:00pm.

U of L head coach Ken Lolla and goalkeeper Joachim Ball visited with the media on Tuesday to discuss the upcoming match.

It was announced just prior to the press conference that Ball was selected as Academic All-American. The German native has 15 career shutout while completing in accounting degree in May with a 3.97 GPA.

Fans are encouraged to print their tickets at home, add their tickets to their mobile device, or pick up tickets in advance at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium between the hours of 9-5, to avoid long will call lines on game day.
