Louisville Baseball completes Omaha Challenge

The University of Louisville baseball team completed its annual Omaha Challenge on Tuesday afternoon, with Zack Burdi claiming the individual title to lead the Red team to victory.

The University of Louisville baseball program's Omaha Challenge - a multi-day challenge focused on improving toughness, leadership and team unity - came to a completion on Tuesday afternoon, with sophomore pitcher Zack Burdi winning the individual title to lead the Red team to a victory.

Burdi, who became the first Cardinal to win the individual title twice, was followed by infielder Nick Solack and freshman pitcher Chandler Dale. Senior infielder Zach Lucas and junior pitcher Jonah Philly rounded out the top five finishers.

Following the final event on Tuesday, Cardinals skipper Dan McDonnell discussed the purpose and success of the Omaha Challenge.

The Omaha Challenge concludes a busy fall semester for Louisville players, who will now focus on finishing strong in the classroom as final exams begin on Dec. 10. Following a break for the Holidays, classes resume on Jan. 7 for the spring semester and the Cardinals will conduct their first official, full-squad practice session for the 2014 season on Jan. 23.
