The University of Louisville picked up an early commitment on Tuesday night, landing a verbal commitment from Mirmar, Fla., 2017 defensive back Brian Edwards. The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Edwards was offered by the Cardinals' in May and announced his decision on Twitter.

The University of Louisville is on the board with a commitment in the Class of 2017 after Tuesday night's verbal from Mirmar, Fla., cornerback Brian Edwards.

The 6-foot-4, 180-pound Edwards picked up his first few offers in May and has been a rising prospect in the Sunshine State during his sophomore season.

Louisville was the first school to make an offer and Edwards told Scout.com in September that the Cardinals "are great at developing defensive backs, I would love to play there."

His second offer came from Miami, while he also had offers from Utah, Clemson, Florida International and USC with Florida State showing some interest.

Edwards has been recruited by U of L cornerback coach Terrell Buckley, a legend in the Sunshine State. He told Scout in May that a chance to play for Buckley at Louisville would "be just amazing."

Scout.com will update this story.
