U of L commit Colburn wins Mr. Football

University of Louisville football commitment Matt Colburn of Dutch Fort High School was named Mr. Football in the state of South Carolina on Saturday. Colburn ran for 1,264 yards as a senior and helped Dutch Fort into the 4-A state championship game.

University of Louisville commitment Matt Colburn was injured for some of his senior season at Irmo, S.C., Dutch Fork High School.

But it still didn't matter.

Colburn ran over and around the competition when he was healthy, good enough to win Mr. Football honors in the state of South Carolina for this season.

The 5-foot-9,185-pound Colburn joins an elite list of players to win the award in recent years, including NFL Draft picks Jadeveon Clowney, Marcus Lattimore and Stephon Gilmore.

As a senior, Colburn ran for 1,264 yards and 24 touchdowns. He finished his career with 4,997 yards and 84 TDs.
