James Burgess will return to Louisville

University of Louisville junior linebacker James Burgess will return to school for his senior season, according to a release from the school. Burgess has 160 career tackles, including 94 solo tackles, and six interceptions.

James Burgess is coming back for another season.

The hard-hitting junior linebacker announced on Thursday that he will return to the University of Louisville for one more season, opting not to turn pro.

A 6-foot, 227-pound native of Homestead, Fla., Burgess has 160 career tackles, including 94 solo tackles. As a junior, Burgess is third on the team with 61 tackles including 10 tackles for a loss on the year.

Burgess also has three sacks, three interceptions and five pass breakups this season for the Cardinals, one of the top defenses in the country.

In three years, Burgess has also recorded 21 tackles for a loss, four sacks, six interceptions, one fumble recovery, two forced fumbles and nine pass break ups.

The Cardinals will play Georgia in the Belk Bowl on Dec. 30 in Charlotte.
