The University of Louisville football program needed another tight end in the program for next season, so they went to the junior-college ranks.
And on Saturday night they landed a tight end.
City College of San Francisco tight end Cole Hikutini announced on Twitter that he had committed and will sign with the Cardinals. He'll enroll for the second semester and will be available for spring football.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound pass-catching tight end had committed to Purdue earlier in the week, but changed his mind when the U of L staff offered.
Hikutini caught 40 passes for 658 yards and four touchdowns last season at City College of San Francisco.
Before enrolling at CC San Francisco, he played for Sacramento State, an FCS program in the Big Sky Conference. As a redshirt freshman he had 21 catches for 204 yards and five TDs.
Hikutini is originally from Pleasant Grove High School in Elk Grove, Calif., where he earned second team all-Delta River League honors as a defensive back as a senior. He caught 27 passes for 536 yards and six touchdowns.
He will have two years of eligibility left after arriving at U of L.
