%%MATCH_12%% Killian cornerback Sheldrick Redwine has said for a few months that the University of %%MATCH_4%% was the frontrunner in his recruitment.
On Saturday night, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Redwine reaffirmed that with a commitment to the Cardinals. Redwine will still take other visits, including one later this month to U of L, but said he wants to be a Cardinal.
"I know they want me," Redwine said. "And the main reasons I like them so much is the possibility of playing early and learning from TBuck (CBs coach Terrell Buckley)."
As a senior, Redwine played all over the field for Killian, including corner, safety, long snapper, punter and wide receiver. He finished his senior season with three interceptions, two blocked punts and also a blocked field goal on defense.
Redwine has offers from U of L, %%MATCH_3%%, Central Florida, %%MATCH_13%%, %%MATCH_11%%, South Florida, %%MATCH_5%%, %%MATCH_6%%, %%MATCH_8%%, %%MATCH_7%% and %%MATCH_9%% among others. He is expected to visit USF and Texas and had visited Minnesota.
But Redwine said he's very excited to be committed to U of L. His former teammate at Killian - and close friend - Trumaine Washington was a freshman corner at U of L this season. The two will be teammates again next fall.
"TBuck was huge because he has been to the biggest level and knows what it takes," Redwine said. "And yes, Tru helped a lot."
