While the University of Louisville's 2015 recruiting class is nearly full, there are still a couple spots left to fill. College of San Mateo offensive lineman Kiola Mahoni is among the Cardinals remaining priority targets and he's set to check out the program later this month.
The 6-foot-4, 288-pound tackle currently holds scholarship offers from Cincinnati, Louisville and Mississippi State, while Arizona State, Oregon State, Temple and others are expressing an interest.
"It's exciting," Mahoni said of the recruiting process. "I'm getting ready to take my visits to Louisville and Mississippi State."
He'll visit the Cardinals program first, making the trip from the San Francisco area to the Derby City on Jan. 16 and then trekking to Starkville the following weekend.
"Those are my top two schools at the moment," he said. "I don't know much about either one of them, so I'm looking forward to seeing both places."
Mahoni teamed with U of L defensive lineman Pio Vatuvei at San Mateo last season.
"I talk to him, but we haven't talked lately," Mahoni said. "He hasn't told me to much about Louisville yet, so I'm looking forward to seeing him when I visit."
A product of Woodside (Ca.) High School, Mahoni is on pace to attain his two year degree in May and will have three years to play two.
