Louisville offer a first for '16 Trinity star

Trinity High School junior Rodjay Burns has landed his first scholarship offer and it comes from the hometown Louisville Cardinals. U of L offered the wide receiver/defensive back on Friday afternoon. Cardinal Authority has the latest on Burns.

The University of Louisville has done a sensational job recruiting players from Kentucky juggernaut Trinity High School through the years.

From Greg and Jeff Brohm to Brian Brohm and Reggie Bonnafon and a bunch of other guys in between, the Cardinals have built a pretty good pipeline.

On Friday, the U of L football staff took another direction in trying to keep that pipeline open by offering Trinity junior standout Rodjay Burns.

The 6-foot-2, 185-pound Burns, who starred as a wide receiver and defensive back, is getting a lot of looks but the offer from the Cardinals is his first.

Burns has also heard from Western Kentucky, Cincinnati and a few others.

As a junior, Burns led the Class 6-A state champion Shamrocks with four interceptions and also led the team with 47 catches for 718 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 14.3 yards on punt returns and 17.5 yards on kick returns.
