U of L baseball tags EKU with 7-6 loss

The University of Louisville baseball team won a midweek game on Tuesday, beating Eastern Kentucky 7-6 before the bad weather moved in at Jim Patterson Stadium. Freshman designated hitter Blake Tiberi was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run.

Freshman Blake Tiberi got a haircut for the first time in a year and a half on Monday night and ended his slump on Tuesday.

Tiberi, who is from Taylor Mill, Ky., had been 2-for-17 this season but went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs in a 7-6 win over Eastern Kentucky on Tuesday. Tiberi had a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning.

Brendan McKay and Will Smith both went 2-for-4 and scored a pair of runs, while Devin Hairston was 1-for-3 and had two RBIs. Hairston now leads the team with 11 RBIs.

Lincoln Henzman came in to pitch in the fifth and picked up the win, while Drew Harrington had the save for the Cardinals.

U of L will play Miami in the first game of the ACC slate on Friday at 3 o'clock. The two teams will also play Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m.
