Suwanee (Ga) Peachtree Ridge defensive back Baylen Buchanan was the first to join the University of Louisville's 2016 recruiting class, pledging to the Cardinals in June of last year. Since that time interest in the 5-foot-11, 180-pound prospect has continued to rise.
After collecting his scholarship offer from U of L, Buchanan's offer sheet has grown to nearly double-digits.
"Since Louisville, I got Georgia, Wake Forest, Iowa, Texas State, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Samford and Mercer," he told Cardinal Authority.
The interest from the home state Bulldogs has certainly grabbed Buchanan's attention. He received the invite during his Junior Day visit and has remained in frequent contact since.
He visited the Athens, Ga., campus on Tuesday evening and attended UGA's basketball game against Kentucky as a guest of the football program and will make a return trip with his mother in the near future.
Buchanan is very familiar with the Louisville program. His father Ray was an All-American corner for the Cardinals in the early 1990's and his uncle Bobby was a key contributor at safety from 2005-09.
He visited for the Cardinals home game against Florida State last fall and is planning a trip to Louisville soon.
"I am still committed," he said, adding that he remains in frequent contact with the U of L staff and that, "I'm getting up to Louisville soon."
His number of scholarship offers is certain to keep growing as Auburn, Kentucky, Notre Dame and others increase their interest.
