Louisville offers hard-hitting Arizona safety

The University of Louisville became the first Division I scholarship offer for Scottsdale, Ariz., Chaparral High School hard-hitting safety Kurt Shughart on Sunday. Cardinal Authority spoke with Shughart after his offer.

Scottsdale, Ariz., Chaparral High School junior Kurt Shughart has only been talking to the University of Louisville football staff for a short period of time.

But the Cardinals obviously like the hard-hitting safety.

The 5-foot-11, 210-pound Shughart reports to Cardinal Authority that the Cardinals became his first Division I scholarship offer on Sunday.

"I'm very excited," he said. "I don't know too much about them, but I will be going down there in June. It's my first D-1 offer and I'm excited."

Shughart is also hearing from Arizona and Arizona State along with several others.

As a junior, Shughart had 43 tackles, six interceptions and 11 pass breakups in 10 games. He had 58 tackles, four interceptions and 15 pass breakups as a sophomore.

Cardinal Authority will keep you posted om his recruitment. Shughart said he will take a trip to Louisville for camp in June.
