No.6 Louisville sweeps Georgia Tech

The University of Louisville defeated visiting Georgia Tech 4-1 on Sunday afternoon to improve to 21-7 overall and an ACC best 11-1 in league play

Make it three straight. That's in three consecutive weekend series sweeps by the University of Louisville.

The No.6 Cardinals recorded their latest sweep on Sunday afternoon, defeating Georgia Tech 4-1 at Jim Patterson Stadium. Sophomore starter Josh Rogers (4-1) allowed just one run on six hits, while striking out six in six innings of work to pick up the victory. Following a bumpy start to season, Rogers is a perfect 3-0 in conference play and has a 1.15 ERA in his last five outings.

Freshman Lincoln Henzman pitched two shutout innings, striking out two, with sophomore Zack Burdi worked the ninth inning, allowing just one hit and striking out a pair to pick up his third save.

The Yellow Jackets, who left nine stranded, out hit the Cardinals 8-5, marking the first time this season that Louisville has won in that situation. Senior Mike White hit his fifth double of the season and drove in a run. Nick Solak and Brendan McKay also contributed RBIs.

Dating back to their 5-4 win over No. Miami on March 8, the Cardinals have now won 10 consecutive games in ACC competition to improve to a conference leading 11-1. The impressive run includes series sweeps at home against Boston College and Georgia Tech and at Notre Dame.

The Cardinals return to the diamond on Tuesday evening when they host Miami of Ohio (4-19) for a midweek contest at Jim Patterson Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00p.m. and admission is free.
