Louisville QBs talk about spring football

The top battle during spring football for the University of Louisville program is at quarterback where four guys are battling with a fifth - Will Gardner - sidelined by injury. Three of the quarterbacks spoke with the media on Tuesday night. Cardinal Authority was there and has the latest from the quarterback race.

University of Louisville offensive coordinator would only smile when he was asked the question on Tuesday night: "Who is the starter?"

McGee said he was never answering that question about his quarterbacks, leaving it up to head coach Bobby Petrino down the road, but it was certainly too early at this point.

After only one week of spring football, the battle is "good competition," according to McGee between four quarterbacks. Reggie Bonnafon, Kyle Bolin and Tyler Ferguson are battling, along with Pat Thomas.

"It's good competition," Bolin said. "We're all good friends and we want each other to do well. But we're all competing and making each other better."

The depth chart lists Bonnafon, who filled in for the injured Gardner last season, equal with Bolin and Ferguson. Bolin filled in for Bonnafon when he was injured in the Kentucky game and started the Belk Bowl, while Ferguson sat out last season after a transfer from Penn State.
