Reloading Louisville defense improving

VIDEO: University of Louisville defensive coordinator Todd Grantham discussed the progress of his group following the Cardinals practice on Wednesday

It was day number six of spring practice for the University of Louisville. The Cardinals worked for just over two hours under beautiful conditions.

The Cardinals defense returns just four starters from last season's top ten squad, but despite the loss of so many key figures, the U of L coaching staff has done an excellent job reloading.

U of L defensive coordinator Todd Grantham discussed his group's progress following Wednesday's practice. Check out the video below for his entire comments.

Quick Quotes:

His impression after one week of practice: "Really pleased with our effort and energy. The guys have really come out with the focus to work hard every day and get better. You improvement in all the guys."

On Shaq Wiggins (currently out with injured elbow): "I thought he had a really good week there. They tried to take some shots on him and he was able to play the ball down the field and be in position. We just have continue to get him healthy and get him back out there."

On receiver turned corner back Cornelius Sturghill: "He's done a really good job of playing the ball. Obviously he's learning how to play the position. He has really good speed. He understands the routes and every day he gets better at that. He's made some plays for us.">
