Louisville first to offer 2017 tight end

Arlington Heights (Ill.) Saint Viator tight end Cole Kmet, a 2017 prospect, received an offer from Louisville during an unofficial visit on Friday

Despite the constant rain blanketing the Derby City the past few days, the visit by 2017 tight end prospect Cole Kmet of Arlington Heights (Ill.) Saint Viator was an excellent one.

"I came in to watch the practice and meet with the coaches," explained the 6-foot-4, 220-pound junior-to-be. "We also checked out some of the city of Louisville."

Kmet watched as the Cardinals utilized the Trager Indoor Facility for day seven of spring practice. He spent much of his time during the two-hour session watching the tight end and passing drills. He visited with some of the coaching staff afterward.

"It went pretty well," he said. "They offered me at the end of the visit."

The Cardinals offer is the first for Kmet, who will visit Notre Dame next weekend.

"It felt really good," he told Cardinal Authority. "It's a great school, so I'm happy. It's my first one, so it's exciting."

Kmet, who was the only sophomore to start for his team last fall, finished with over 500 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He's also a standout left-handed pitcher for the school baseball team, earning Perfect Game Underclassmen All-American honorable mention.
