Four future University of Louisville Cardinals were on display at the Kentucky Derby Festival Night of the Future Stars held at New Albany (Ind.) High School on Friday night. Deng Adel, Ryan McMahon, Donovan Mitchell and Raymond Spalding all participated in the event.
Ryan McMahon, a virtual unknown a few months ago, put on a display during the three-point shooting portion of the event. The 6-foot, 175-pound guard connected on 17 of 25 attempts during the one minute contest and established a new KDF Derby Classic record with 26 total points. He'll be joined by Matt Ryan (Notre Dame), Brandon Sampson and Diamond Stone (Maryland) will join McMahon in the three-point finals on Saturday night at Freedom Hall.
Donovan Mitchell, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound guard, became the favorite to win the dunk contest following his performance during the semi-finals on Friday night. His first dunk came off an assist on the side of the backboard, while he was assisted by the gym wall on his second dunk.
