Louisville on short list for top '16 player

The University of Louisville women's basketball team is in the mix to land another No. 1 prospect. Lauren Cox has narrowed her list to six and the Cardinals are on the list. Cardinal Authority has the latest.

University of Louisville women's basketball coach Jeff Walz landed the No. 1 player in the Class of 2015 - Asia Durr - and signed the overall No. 1 class.

Walz is at it again in 2016.

Flower Mound, Tx., center Lauren Cox has narrowed her list to six schools, according to a report by SNYUConn.com. The list includes Baylor, Connecticut, Louisville, Notre Dame, South Carolina and Tennessee.

The 6-foot-4 Cox made an unofficial visit to U of L this past season. She averaged 21.7 points, 15.4 rebounds and 5.2 blocks a game s a junior and helped her team to the state semifinals for the first time.

Cox will tryout for the USA Basketball U-19 national team in Colorado Springs, Colo., next month. She started all seven games on the U-17 team that won the FIBA world championship last summer and now has been on two gold-medal winning teams.

Louisville has one commitment from the Class of 2016 - forward Kylee Shook.
