Louisville offers 4-star '16 PG

The University of Louisville basketball staff extended an offer to four-star 2016 point guard Alterique Gilbert of Lithonia, Ga., Miller Grove High School.

The University of Louisville basketball staff is still trying to firm up the Class of 2015 but is also deep into the mix with some 2016 prospects.

Add a new name to the mix - Alterique Gilbert.

The 6-foot four-star point guard from Lithonia, Ga., Miller Grove High School standout picked up a scholarship offer from the University of Louisville on Wednesday night.

He also has offers from Connecticut, Florida State, Illinois, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, Miami, Texas A&M and others.

Gilbert scored 18.5 points a game for Miller Grove last year, while also averaging 6.2 assists, 5.3 steals and 4.7 rebounds a game. He led his team to the 5-A quarterfinals.

Gilbert currently checks in at No. 48 in the Class of 2016, and he checks in as the No. 8 point guard in the country. He plays for the CP-3 All-Stars in the Nike EYBL and will be in Lexington this weekend.
