Louisville offers '16 N.C. corner Gilbert

Fayetteville (N.C.) cornerback Mark Gilbert has double-digit offers with the latest coming on Tuesday from the University of Louisville. Gilbert is a two-sport star and attends Terry Sanford High School.

The University of Louisville football staff stayed active in offering top prospects scholarships on Tuesday, giving one to Fayetteville, N.C., Terry Sanford High School cornerback Mark Gilbert.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Gilbert recently made visits to Penn State and Michigan.

Gilbert holds offers from Penn State, Michigan, South Carolina, Boston College, Duke, North Carolina State, Pittsburgh, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest and West Virginia among others.

A three-star prospect, Gilbert is tabbed as the No. 50 cornerback in the country by Scout.com and checks in as the No. 17 corner in the South.

Last season, Gilbert finished with 34 tackles, three interceptions, six pass breakups and a fumble recovery. He also returned a punt for a score.

Gilbert is also a standout basketball player at Sanford. He was named All-State in both sports last season as a junior.
