The University of Louisville football opening game is now set for the next three seasons

The Cardinals will open against Auburn in the Chick-Fil-A Classic on Sept. 5 in the Georgia Dome in 2015 and will host Charlotte on Sept. 3 in 2016.

On Wednesday, it was confirmed by several media outlets that Louisville will play Purdue in the 2017 opener at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on Sept. 2.

The Cardinals and Boilermakers have only played one previous time, a 22-22 tie in 1987.

The game is only the second non-conference game on the schedule for U of L. The Cardinals will play at Kentucky on Nov. 25.
