Louisville offers 2017 point guard

University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino haven't offered many prospects from the Class of 2017. But the Cardinals extended an offer to a top point guard in the '17 class on Saturday - Jaylen Hands.

Five-star point guard Jaylen Hands, ranked the No. 19 prospect in the Class of 2017 by Scout.com, now holds a scholarship offer from the University of Louisville basketball staff.

The 6-foot-2 Hands reported the offer from the Cardinals earlier on Saturday evening.

Hands, who left Mater Dei High School in Chula Vista, Calif., recently and has enrolled in Foothills Christian High School in El Cajon, Calif., now has eight offers.

UCLA, USC, Arizona, Arizona State, San Diego, San Diego State and California are among the other schools with offers out to Hands, who is ranked as the No. 5 point guard in the class.

As a junior, Hands helped Mater Dei to an 18-11 record and scored a career-high 45 points in one game. He was named to the first-team All-State squad and was recently named to the USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team tryout list.

Hands averaged just under 20 points a game last season. He play AAU ball for the adidas-sponsored Compton Magic.
