Deng Adel enrolled at Louisville

The first newcomer for next year's University of Louisville basketball team has enrolled in school. Cardinal Authority has confirmed incoming freshman Deng Adel has enrolled in summer school and able to work out with the staff.

The first of at least six newcomers for the University of Louisville basketball program next season has enrolled in school.

Cardinal Authority has learned Deng Adel, an incoming freshman from Bradenton, Fla., Victory Rock Prep School, has enrolled in classes at U of L.

The 6-foot-8 Adel is set to take classes in the first summer semester and is able to work out at the Yum Center practice facility with the Cardinals' staff.

Adel was one of the top targets in the '15 class for U of L and was the first player to make a commitment to Rick Pitino in the class.

Ranked as the No. 23 player in the Class of 2015 rankings by Scout.com, Adel is a five-star prospect and checks in as the No. 5 forward.

Adel is a native of Sudan who grew up in Australia. He averaged 22 points and eight rebounds in his first season at Victory Rock two years ago and just under 20 points a game this past season at Victory Rock.

The three other freshmen - Ray Spalding, Donovan Mitchell and Ryan McMahon - and the two fifth-year seniors - Trey Lewis and Damion Lee - are all expected to enrolled at U of L later this month and join the team in the second semester of summer classes.

Classes for term one of summer school began today with classes for the second term slated to begin on June 2.
