The University of Louisville football team posted a grade-point average of 2.83 for the spring semester - which is the best ever for the program.
Louisville had one player earn a perfect 4.0 GPA and 35 others who posted a 3.0 or higher. In all, 70 athletes total had over a 2.5 GPA.
"I'm very proud of the commitment our players showed in the classroom this semester," coach Bobby Petrino said in the release from the school. "To post the highest grade-point average in our history means a lot to our dedication to academics at the University of Louisville. I'm very appreciative of the efforts of the entire academic support staff and our student-athletes in posting such an outstanding achievement."
For the year, the Cardinals had 24 student-athletes receive their degrees, including seven in the spring. Five athletes will play next season with their degrees.
